Don’t Call it a Comeback

I’ve been here for years. Eleven years in fact. Its been almost a full 365 since my last post and I have missed this old place. We have been interacting via Insta, but I have neglected my first home and its pining for attention so I’m dusting off the cobwebs with a splash of vintage style.

Fur has never been my thing. Fake or real, I was never really into it but this vintage coat made me stop, collaborate and listen. I bought it in March when it was quite mild and not cold enough to wear it, but now the temperature has fallen its having its moment. Teamed with my new Simply Be top, vintage bag and old faithful DM boots, I looked a lot dressier than I had planned and I liked it, esp the fact that it made me feel like King Jaffe Joffer from Coming to America. Now all I need is a gazillion pounds and my own kingdom.

I don’t know what I found quite so funny but obviously SOMETHING was amusing me.

Roll with the Punches

Its been a funny ole week. Two of the pop up events in my last post were scheduled for this week and neither of them actually happened as they were cancelled by the organisers for one reason or another. All my hard work to prepare just down the toilet. Still, it could all be a lot worse. I have a lot to be thankful for so I really can’t complain too loudly. All I can do is keep on pushing and dance with Darlene.

Dancing with Darlene

Darlene is my trusted Kennett & Lindsell mannequin that I bought on Ebay a couple of years ago for a mere fraction of her true value and she is really serving me well. Darlene is wearing the size 2XL Hell Bunny Tutti Fruiti dress that is approx. a size UK18 and as you can see, it fits all her curves perfectly. I’m wearing the 4XL Monte Carlo dress which is officially the equivalent to a size 22 but the fabric has some stretch so I’m just about able to fit my size 24/26 body into it. It fits me very closely but evidently, that hasn’t stopped me.

Hands down my dress of the season. I love the low back and the fact that its got pockets. No bra peepage at the sides of my boobs either. I’ll still be wearing it in the autumn, just adding layers of tights and cardigans. Oh- it has pockets too. It’s a done deal.

Both dresses available at Belovedendeavour.com

Floral Showcase

Yours truly modelling the FEARNE floral suit from Beloved Endeavour. I’m wearing the size 24. I usually wear a size 24/26 and this fits me fine as it’s stretchy. The fabric is medium weight, soft and very comfy to wear. I’m modelling both colours (black and mint) then the last two photos show the black jacket with the mint skirt. Availability is very limited so get yours now!

Fitting In

I finally got round to wearing my new Eloquii shirt and my day at The Emporium Brierley Hill couldn’t have been a better place to wear it to. Its vintage vibe meant I slotted in neatly into my vintage and antique surroundings and even felt almost theatrical. I’ve wanted a blouse in this style for years so finding this is the highlight of my fashion year. I paired it with my handmade Beloved Endeavour skirt and I can see this is a combination I’ll be wearing often over the coming winter. What are my Dr Martens clad feet doing? I don’t know. My body changed position and my feet just said “nah”. They have their own agenda.

Big Clothes at Big Centre TV

So yesterday I stepped WAAAAAY outside of my comfort zone and did a TV interview. And I survived. It’s not my first TV piece (I did one in 2009-ish) but it still had me bricking it. I’m not someone who likes centre stage, I’m not a talker, I’m more of a writer so the internet suits me just fine. Audiovisuals make me lose sleep. Theres no thinking time and no self editing. I apologise now if I say something daft!

The show will be aired this morning at 10am and this afternoon at 4.30 on Freeview Channel 8 and Virgin 159. Eek!

Blogger Spotlight

Over the weekend I made a point of spending an afternoon catching up with various blogs as I don’t get to do that as often as I would like. During this time I discovered a new blogger, not someone new to blogging as she’s been doing so since 2010, but certainly new to me and I just had to highlight her on here in case she’s new to some of you too. Her name is Kiah and she has style in abundance. I trawled through every single one of her posts in one sitting and ooo-ed and aaahh-ed my way through her imaginative use of colour and pattern, and her fantastic collection of vintage dresses. Kiah describes herself as a “Jesus freak” and her blog is also laced with inspirational words and biblical quotes which sets her apart from most fashion bloggers. From the Rez to the City is definitely going on my blog roll. Go there now!
