Shiny Happy People

Thats it- its OVER. Summer has come and gone in a matter of a few weeks and its not coming back til this time next year. I have been in denial for the past week which has caused my poor tootsies to get soaked through twice ’cause I was wearing sandals and got caught out in heavy downpours- but no more. I don’t know why I bother with the summer gear I really don’t. I’d only just decided it was bright enough to start carrying my white bag to work and now I’ve got to put it away again because the skies are grey. SIGH. Well I’m not going to complain anymore, I’m just gonna roll with the raindrops and start looking out for autumn winter clothes in the middle of July. SIGH.

One thing I am on the lookout for is a sequined blazer. I want one. BADLY. I ideally want a black one but silver or gold would suffice although gold or silver would require more effort to avoid looking like a game show host. Actually, what I REALLY want is this trompe l’oeil sequin jacket/ dress by Ashish. If this came in Deenasize I would consider sacrificing every single potential clothing purchase for an entire year to justify splurging on this. I’d even go up to 18 months and brown bag my lunch every single day. Seriously.

It will never be mine so instead I will sit and ogle the skirt in the ensemble below and think of autumn leaves and paillette dreams.

I hated the “heatwave” we had earlier at the start of summer! I can’t bear the heat, and whilst I don’t like clouds, I do prefer them to feeling sweaty and grumpy!

  2. Nancy says:

I am with you on the lack of summer, it is such a pain not knowing how to dress!

I love that jacket it is devine, made me think about customising an old black jacket I have with some sequins (not to that extreme though)

Keep up the blogging I am loving this.

Hey Deena, come to Texas, we’ve got all the summer you can stand. And it will be here through September.
And I love the sequined blazer, I’ll have to keep an eye out for something affordable, inspired by…
I’m a new reader and thoroughly enjoying your blog, keep up the great work.

That black blazer is SO great. Did you try Yoox? They had some sequined blazers a while ago.

Ha! My bank account tells me to just wear potato sacks and flip flops but most of the time I just give it a middle finger and we make a happy compromise.

You should move to Sydney! We so much summer we don’t know what to do when the weather gets even slightly chilly/overcast. For example, people wear jumpers in December – on a 28 degree day – if the sky looks grey. AND you can wear your fancy new gold swimsuit to the beach with me.

I wanted sequin everything this past A/W season: sequin bomber jacket, sequin leggings, sequin skirt… but I look a bit weird in all of them. So sad.

I would be in my element in Sydney. I LOVE the sun because even if you are having a crap day it doesn’t seem so bad when the sun is out.

  7. ‘love and ‘hate shiny at the same time: I love trying it on, but I never really wear it, it always seem too much once I’m in front of my mirror….

    But I love shiny aceessories…

Gosh, girls are complicated, uh uh

    Hi!

    Did you check out DP?
They have a few sequin jackets (under boyfriend jackets sub-category)

    Biggest size is a 22.

(sorry, i just found this blog so not quite sure what size you take)

  9. I am with you with the weather. It’s been really hot here too and now it’s just grey and rainy. Blah. It sucks because my wardrobe is like 80% Summer clothes. lol

The Anna Scholz skirt is gorgeous. I almost bought it at Harrods because it was reduced for even less than £100 but I thought it was too long on me.

Maybe Torrid will come up with a sequin jacket. A few years ago they did a bolero one.

  10. I went to the ashish show in LFW and had SERIOUS fashion lust; I wanted it all!!
I saw a Primark preview and they had some sequinned jackets coming in soon, as did DPs; maybe worth a look?

    • Deena says:

You got to go to the Ashish show? You jammy sod! I know that must have been spectacular! I’ve seen the ones in DP but they are too small 😦

  11. Claire says:

Ahhh what a blazer! And a great outfit choice there!!
