The HMS Pinafore

“Where are you going in that Beverly Hillbilly dress?”

“Are you going to become a cowboy?”

“Are you going to the Midwest?

“Are you about to ride a horse?”

All questions I’ve had to field from a family member who has about as much style as ball of string but seems to think his non- fashion sense holds sway with me, and fancies himself as a bit of a comedian to boot *side eye*. I’m well impressed with my new Beverly Hillbilly dress thank you very much. I’ve been looking at it on the Asos Curve site for a couple of weeks but didn’t buy it as I felt I might look a little ridiculous in a pinafore as I left primary school a long time ago. After two weeks of doubt I came across this photo on Instagram (@girlsofplenty) which convinced me that it is possible to wear a pinafore as a grown woman and still look like an adult..

I was sold. I teamed it with a Beloved Endeavour shirt (still available, only worn for the photo), Clarks sandals and accessorised with my new handmade brooch by Lolly from Lolly Loves Fatshion.

I can already see that I’m going to be wearing this all summer. It’s comfy, the fabric is sturdy, and if I decide that this is the year to become a cowgirl- I’m ready.
